Two Poems of Bimlesh Tripathi: Translated by Kalpna Singh-Chitnis

। Stay With Me, Only You

With a single petal of a flower, I can create a bouquet

A star in the sky

Is enough for the entire night to be luminous

From a single seed

Countless wheat plants can grow

With just a single letter

I can write an epic

A moment of a lifetime can endure

Countless light years

There is no god,

Stay with me, only you,

On the ledge in the courtyard

Like the old clay lamp of the earth

And my poems alive

That's all...

The Day You Will Become Silent

The day you will become silent,

The earth will stop revolving on its axis,

The essential oxygen will disappear from the air,

And the greenery from the earth will vanish.

Flowers will stop blooming,

And the songs of birds will be

Confiscated in the claws of time,

A very old song will repeatedly come to the lips,

only to slip away,

And a necessary poem, being written for centuries,

Shall remain unfinished.
